If you are ever traveling from France to Italy and have the time to spare then you should seriously consider taking the Pass Route rather than the tunnel. the scenery is awesome, the drive exhilarating, and there are pleasant villages and stops along the way....More

The scenery here is stunning, as is the drive over the pass. And as you cross the Alps you can marvel at how Hannibal did it more than 2000 years ago, with elephants.

The Col du Mont-Cenis featured in a trail race I was running in, so my passage here was rather "serendipitous". The view was amazing, worth sacrificing a minute or two of race time to take some lovely photos. Note: you've got to be pretty fit...More
