    For the Commissario Fans only
The series were a huge success in Europe, but are little known in the States (MHZ was the only place to find them streamed). Based on the popular Camilleri intriguing and thought provoking human interest stories, they ran for over ten years. The house however is of nominal interest, nothing but the outside and the newly created touristy cafe right next to it. If you are a fan of the series, take a picture and go have lunch at one of the multiple seafood places in Marina di Ragusa. Our choice was Il Delfino (separate review)

    Magical holiday
We had a wonderful week at Casa de Montalbano. Our room was perfect with a sea view. Breakfast every morning on the terrace. However, do be prepared to be photographed at any time of the day. You certainly get to know how celebrities feel. That was why we're stayed. Ate at several local restaurants. A Montalbano tour was organised through the owner. We visited all the pertinent locations. Slightly disappointed in the guide not speaking English not his fault our fault not speaking Italian. Lovely having a driver so no hassle parking. Thank you Sarah and Agatha for preparing breakfast and keeping the house free from the sand we brought in after being on the beach.

For Montalbano fans a joy to stay here.
As Montalbano fans it was a very special experience. I don't think you need more than one or possibly two nights. Otherwise it is good but not outstanding. The breakfast was quite ordinary and our room was very clean and pleasant. But for us it was a huge joy to stay here.

The room was ok and the view fine. Sara, the girl who greeted us at breakfast was very nice and helpful. The terrace was lovely. It was interesting to stay in the house but rather over priced. Breakfast was average. Parking easy.

Just being able to walk along the beach and overlook the beautiful Med from Commissario Montalbano's splendid balcony and take breakfast there - fresh croissants, stunningly good coffee and other continental-style items, made the whole experience very special. Especially so after having to cancel two earlier trips due to COVID.

The bedroom with ensuite while by no means large, was adequate and the bed was comfortable. We could see the sea from a side window and another overlooked a small cafe. Once the bedroom windows are closed, you don't hear much. There's aircon and that worked very well. Everything was clean, smelled fresh, and sheets and towels changed daily. Daria, our main host, looked after us very well, as did Ivana, the Director.

Around and about Punta Secca is quiet, compared to other larger towns. The area directly outside was pedestrianised. There are some stalls selling clothes and nearby a couple of supermarkets with excellent produce. A fresh loaf, Prosciutto and Sicilian cheese with a glass of wine on the balcony at sunset - very special.

Daria also arranged our Montalbano tour - which, for anyone who has watched the series, was a no-brainer to take. We visited many locations including the Police Station. Of course, it isn't an actual station - it's the Scicli Town Hall. For not very much, you get to visit Catarella's office, and Montalbano's office - unfortunately, we weren't allowed to test the office door :o) - but the villa has its very own Cateralla front door. Yes, you're instructed to enter a code into a keypad and then push on the door. I'm 20 stone and gave it a shove, nothing happened. We arrived on a Sunday - we had our suitcases - it was hot and we'd just taken a 2-hour taxi ride from Catania following nearly 3 hours in the air and an early journey to the airport. My wife and I both envisioned having to sleep on the steps. Finally, I gave it a really sharp and hard shove and voila (ecco) it opened with a Caterella-style flourish. We had arrived! The common lounge area leads through to a dining room - which is actually Montalbano's bedroom and from there, straight out onto the famous balcony. It's all so familiar.

Retaurants - Enzo a Mare. Montalbano's favourite wasn't ours. The setting of course is as you'd expect but a) it's very expensive, b) the food is passable, c) there was horrendous music being played by some idiot on the beach. It was louder than loud. It didn't seem to bother the other restaurant guests but we vowed never to return. There are, however, several really good places to eat around and about. Our favourite Papappero is about 40 metres from the villa. Excellent food, not overpriced.

Finally - we will return as long as we are physically able. We're quite fussy so that says something.

B&B by the sea with excellent views especially if you have a room overlooking the beach. Best location in Punta Secca since it is literally based in the center of the village. Very expensive thought for what it offers since you pay for fame of the Moltabano series. You will find tourists continuously on the plaza in front of the hotel making photos of the house. Breakfast is limited to coffee, fresh juices and sweets (pastry, etc).

Love watching Montalbano so we made sure to fit in a visit to the house used in the programmes en route from Ragusa to Marzamemi. We didn't realise it was a B&B though - if we had we would have definitely have booked as stay! A nice little town to have a wander around and a good beach. Nice to see where it is filmed and have the obligatory photo.

We were on a Montalbano tour to see the key film sites from the TV series. And completely thrilled to make it to Punta Secca and see Montalbano's house there and also the beach where he has his morning swim.
Great experience and on tope that Punta Secca itself is a lovely little town

I’d like to start by saying that we didn’t know anything about the TV show before we booked to stay in this B&B - but I’d be lying. Of course we did - that’s why we came here. Having watched the subtitled version in England we fell in love with the area and characters portrayed. Stepping through the front door you immediately feel you are on set with Montalbano - everything is as you remember from the show. This does mean that the furniture and decor is what you would find in a typical Sicilian home rather than the upmarket hotel style you would get elsewhere - but that isn’t why you would come here. We stayed in the 1st floor ‘Scirocco’ room which is large, comfortable and has access to the terrace where, like Salvo, you will have your coffee and pastries in the morning. The hosts were very welcoming and kept us informed all the way through from the initial booking to our arrival. There is a wide range of bars, cafes and good restaurants within walking distance and of course you are only a few steps from the beach. We loved our stay and would definitely return.
