This is the biggest lake in Kyrgystan. There are many places to stop and camp in discrete locations on the beaches. Great to picnic. Take a few days to travel around the lake-you won't be disappointed.

Generally disappointing. The water is quite cold. The view is okay, nothing special. And the beach is full of stones and broken glass.

Stunning lake, surrounded by snow topped mountains. Clear blue waters which are great for swimming. Surrounding towns are a work in progress but just sort of add to the feeling about the place. Magical !

Don't miss Issy kul. Equally, you should experience a yurt stay in one of the delightful gorges to the south of Issy kul. We stayed in the Jetty Oguz gorge - south of Karakol : it's incredibly Alpine. Amazing adventure..
