It does involve a short walk from the car park, but located in a beautiful spot above the beach. There are some bunkers nearby to explore. All free of charge.

This is a very good memorial for those very brave men that fought and died during the first assault on this beach.

What an awesome Memorial to those from "The Big Red One" who helped storm the beach at Omaha and help liberate Normandy! It right on top of the bluff, which gives a very tremendous 'view' of the beach that they stormed. Highly recommended....!!!!

We came across this monument on our way to the Normandy American Cemetery, going uphill from Omaha Beach. It was an unexpected but good surprise.

The Memorial to the 1st Infantry is on a bluff overlooking Omaha Beach and pays tribute to the brave men who made the ultimate sacrifice. A visit to Omaha Beach was a must for me, and this memorial is a poignant part of that visit.

These monuments mean so much to history and are usually in a central location that they are worth the time to see and read and this one in no exception. Only takes 15 minutes.

This is a good place to stand and watch the sands and listen to the waves and think about what D Day meant and how many Americans lost their lives so we might be free.

Those men who jumped out of a plane into occupied Europe, to liberate were the heroes amongst heroes, and this memorial is a wonderful tribute to them.
