This is a huge castle set in the old part of Barletta city overlooking the sea. It has been wonderfully maintained, full of old manuscripts, stone relics and artworks. There is an amazing subterranean area with a natural ‘soundbox’ in one room. Don’t miss this!
it is a castle, but mostly used for exhibitions. impressive from outside but not so much inside. views from castle towards sea is of industrial port. town itself was the least impressive I saw in my stay in Puglia.
Only visited the castle from the outside as it was closed the day we were in Barletta but it is a tremendously impressive structure.

Nicely organised exposition of pictures, paintings and the furniture and all within a very suggestive walls full of history.
We walked along the beach from our hotel to Castle. Castle admission is reasonable and view from castle is breath taking. They are not open 7days. I can't remember which day is close....so better check before you visit castle. My friends couldn't get to see.
When you are in barletta and you visit the city centre, you will notice, as in all italian cities a fusion of history and modernism. The castello is a stop in the history within the modern vibs of the city.
