We did Pompeii and Herculaneum in one day. I realize my 3 stars is partially due to my own inexperience in navigating ancient sites, but my husband and I were frustrated. The English booklet you are given gives you maybe 10 sentences about each marked...More

This is an amazing archaeological site that is not to be missed. We used the audio guide and found it to be very informative and allowed us to set our own pace. Words really cannot explain or describe all that you will see at this...More

We decided to go here rather than Pompei because it's more well preserved and also closer to Naples where we were staying! It was an interesting place and we used the audio guide - which is 13 euros for 2 people. you get a phone...More

Herculaneum is a little gem! I loved all of the details that have been preserved! Tables, flooring, murals...all are visible! You also see a lot of bones 🙈. I think kids would love this place as well as adults! We purchased the audio tour and...More

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Smaller than Pompeii but with many more villas and maybe more quality in terms of preservation. Give it a chance to them if you don't want to visit the super crowded Pompeii .

Although Pompei is the main attraction Herculaneum should be seriously considered as an alternative. Pompei is a vast site and finding the best buildings and rooms takes an age and really can't be done in a day. Herculaneum takes all the best parts of Pompei...More

The ancient Roman city of Herculaneum, along with Pompeii are the two cities famously buried under volcanic ash and pumice in the 1st century eruption of Mount Vesuvius. If you’re visiting both these cities like I did, it’ll be a relief to know that Herculaneum...More

I actually visited October 2018 with my Mum. We took the train there and it was a fascinating experience. A big confusing at times whether certain parts were actually open. Although I was under the weather, I still enjoyed it a lot; and you can...More

Our charming hosts are Italian, so naturally we left the purchasing of the tickets to them. They are both very bright people, yet somehow the purchasing went awry. Although the website didn't ask them to select a date, upon arrival we learned that the date...More
