The most down-to-earth of the three Borromean islands, the Island of the Fishermen still gives you a good sense of how everyday people lived outside the grand house of Isola Madre and the opulent palace of Isola Bella. Its narrow, winding passages are fun to...More

This is a little gem of an island. Very pretty with lots of lovely restaurants and gift shops. Best to eat lunch early as the restaurants get very full. There is an interesting little fisherman’s museum but it is also nice to just relax and...More

Stalls filled with souvenirs and an untidy feeling. Heaving with tourists. The saddest thing was there is basically no lakeside it’s all concrete fortified and looks uncared for.

A very small island geared for providing meals and souvenirs to visitors. Narrow cobblestone lanes zigzag across the island and it does not take much time to walk from end to end. There are plenty of dining options. The island gets crowded during lunch. A...More

A popular stop-off. This small island is an intriguing combination of tourist traps and authenticity. A good path circumnavigates the island giving good views across the lake in all directions but particularly of Isola Bella - a good, short walk. A number of restaurants and...More

It’s amazing to hear the story of this island. Many people have a store there, but only 12 families actually live there. It took us over an hour to decide where to eat. Everything looked and smelled delicious.
