We have been in more beautiful caves in the United States with more color but we really enjoyed this cave as it felt very authentic with low lighting, dripping water and glow worms. We had a fantastic guide named Katie who made the tour special....More

Dont tell other people about this secret ... we had a small 17 person tour, starting down a wonderful spiral in dimly lit darkness to enter the caves, after which we lover every minute of our 90min tour. Kids loved all the stalagmites and tites,...More

If you only have time to visit 2 caves in Waitomo, miss out Aranui and visit 1st the main glow worm cave but definitely also 2) the Ruakuri cave: for us the best experience of them all. It’s a longer, more varied adventure with more...More

Easy stroll to admire the beauty that a cave has to offer. You are left with ample time to the admire limestone formations and the glow worms.

Mostly because we were finally allowed to take pictures inside the cave! We took plenty pictures of the glowy worms, stalactites, stalagmites, and many more. Here, again, backpack was not allowed. It was probably the precaution just in case your bag accidentally hit the stalactites...More

We had a great time exploring and learning about the history and science behind the formations. We had the most passionate tour guide from Chicago (totally forgot her name sorry), that made it a worthwhile experience

The cave experience was varied with good variety of limestone formation, underground river systems, well laid out and easy walking suspended walkways. Not to mention our passionate guide that was passionate about telling us the features and history of the cave

The tour of this cave takes about 90 minutes. It was much less busy than the Waitomo Glow Worm Cave, but there are glow worms in this cave too, and fantastic cave features. Our guide Matt was brilliant, very knowledgeable and friendly

Just 10km down the road and wet free version. I’ve seen nicer caves but the worms are the highlight. I expected to see more but it was fun and the kids had a great time.

Both caves have their high points and I think it is worth the time to do both. The Glow Worm tour provides more of a "wow" factor since you get to see a whole lot of them at once in a large (very dark) cavern. With no... More

The spiral stairs should be ok, even if you're carrying your child. Might be a bit claustrophobic but there are decent lights and the guides are very thoughtful
