We visited here after going to Lagoa do Fogo. We didn't do the long hike, instead we drove past Caldeira Velha, and turned off the road at the sign for Salto do Cabrito. We parked at the lot near the white building. There’s a road...More

First off, unless you find it tough to walk then instead of following the sign posts to the waterfall, I would recommend parking in Caldeiras (Caldeiras da, Ribeira Grande, Portugal), and walking up and over the hill. You walk up the hill towards Barragem Dam...More

I’ve visited a lot of waterfalls in my time but this one was really nice. It’s a shame the HEP station basically drained the river of much of its water so it’s not a raging torrent but equally if the HEP company are funding the...More

The waterfall was very nice and worth a stop. We stopped by after Ribeira Grande on our way to Caldeira Velha. I completely forgot that you can swim there, so maybe bring your swimsuit it looked very refreshing and nice :)

To be honest I would not recommend this waterfall in particular. There are nicer ones to see on São Miguel. The walk to the waterfall is quite steep and may not be easily accessible for everyone. Fortunately, you can drive quite close. Still, the steepest...More

This stop was part of a tour that we were on. We parked by the power plant so we didn't have to walk very far to see the waterfall.

The water fall is average from the bottom but when you start going up the stairs you realize how beautiful and unique it is. A must do!

Lovely waterfall, just out of Ribiera Grande. We drove right down to the site itself rather than parking up by the hydro-electric plant. Very relieved, as the walk down (and more importantly up) the path would have been exhausting for us. Some stunning photos -...More

There is more than one way to get here - we took a longer scenic route which was about 30 mins but there is a back road that locals seem to use. Worth a stop and a dip. Water is very clean and great to...More

I just had a little walk and it takes less than 1hour, but there is a possibility to do canyoning. I saw a group of 6 ppl going down the waterfall and it looked like a lot of fun. Must do next time I go...More

Hi Nitin, we were really lazy about it - haha, and followed the sign for Salto do Cabrito, there is a signposted left turn off the road and shortly after you will probably see half a dozen or so cars parked. But you will... More
