This place is so cool to visit! The bears are fun to watch and are usually doing something cool when you are there. The guides are great with them and the bears sure know them! It’s pretty amazing !!!

We visited this site using an independent tour operator. While it was a nice visit it felt as though we were in a zoo. That aside I thought the price to view the bears was a bit high especially after spending $90 each just for...More

This is not a zoo, but a bear refuge. If you don't have a car you'll need to catch a taxi or the local bus (hourly $1 each way & short walk from bus stop). There are 3 types of bears including black & 2...More

This was the highlight of our Sitka visit. Well run and all the people there had great information to share with us. We delighted in seeing several bears being so well cared for in a natural habitat. Not to be missed when visitng Sitka.

We did this in May.,It was amazing to see bald eagles take chunks of fish out of the air. The bears were pretty large and they had different breeds.

While I appreciate what it is the people here do, be aware that if you use a cruise ship or dockside excursion trip, you will spend more time there than necessary. The bus that took us dropped us off and said they would return in...More

My expectations were very low as most wildlife sanctuaries I've been to have barely offered a better life than a zoo, but these bears are well cared for and it showed. These bears (7 brown & 2 black when I visited) were playful and happy...More

When our cruise ship docked we took a taxi to the Fortress of the bear. When we arrived not many people were there, so it was easy to view the bears. We saw 3 black bears and two different enclosures with brown bears, we all...More

We signed up at the dock for a combo Fortress of the Bears and Eagle Sanctuary bus tour. It was approximately $30 per person. It was a far better deal than any preorder trip on the ship! The guide told us all about the area... More
