As soon as I got out of the car I felt a sense of calmness. This is a place that just oozes reverence for the deceased. You can ring a gong before you go into the temple, or feed the fish, or relax on a...More

This is a beautiful Japanese temple in the valley. You could see koi fish and appreciate the beauty of the structure. There's a gift shop on site as well as a small booth to buy snacks. Worth a stop and wouldn't take more than an...More

The temple and grounds are beautiful and serene. You drive through a cemetery to get to the temple. Entrance is $5/pp. While it was very nice, I don’t think it’s worth the time. The grounds are small and there’s not much to see or do....More

Jack Lord's Steve-o introduced me to this amazing spot as a kid, and I now visit whenever I'm on O'ahu. It's part of a cemetery complex, with many faiths represented. The grounds are a peaceful spot to stroll and decompress. Lots of koi, some chickens,...More

My wife was looking forward to visiting this place. It did not disappoint. It was what we anticipated, quite serene and utterly beautiful. We spent about 1 hour or so here, more than enough time. The grounds themselves are just that...grounds.. nothing fancy, but just...More

Byodo-In Temple is about a half-size replica (per the attendant) of the original in Japan. The whole complex is in a lovely natural setting of trees, ponds, and mountains. In fact, even the bridge walk from the parking lot to the temple complex is beautiful....More

There is an entrance fee to get up to the temple, but not for the cemetery grounds. I took photos everywhere without photograph permission.
