This chambered tomb is one of the finest in Europe. You cannot take pictures inside the tomb, but it is worth the time and effort to get there. The Neolithic tomb is an engineering marvel. The sun, on the winter solstice shines inside the tomb...More

The guided tour was well- organised and informative. The size of the group was just right and, understandably, small given the delicate condition and space inside this ancient tomb. We loved it. There is a bit of a walk from the drop-off point to Maes...More

Fantastic. We loved it. OF COURSE access is controlled: it’s far too precious for open doors. Our guide was amusing and informative, his presence reducing the risk of casual vandalism. OF COURSE it’s a schlep in: those thoughtless Stone Agers built it on the wrong...More

I was expecting this to be an interesting visit, but our delightful guide Rob really brought this fascinating place alive. We loved his stories and explanations of the Viking graffiti, delivered with enthusiasm and humour. It really was a great experience.

Fascinating, interesting, worthwhile. The entryway was a bit small, everyone made it through. Once inside, it was worth it.

Our guide gave us an indepth talk about the history which we enjoyed. It was pouring with rain so we were fortunate to be inside Maeshowe to listen to it.

An extraordinary attraction which takes you back 4500 years, with a brief stop off to meet some Vikings! Access is only via one of the guided tours, at £9 per person, and booking might be advisable during high season. Now you may think that's a...More

You will have to get in touch with Orkney Tourist Board in Kirkwall. I don't have the answer to your questions as I drive myself around the mainland! Good luck and have a great trip !!
