What a story... one owner , keen gardener, Regent to James V1, fell out of grace 'cos he murdered someone and then was beheaded by an invention he had seen in Yorkshire- you couldn't make this stuff up! Make sure you go and lie down on the blanket in one room to view rhe painted

The castle is right next to the train station. The castle and grounds are in excellent condition. The adjoining church and graveyard are fascinating. The walk to the Firth takes 15 minutes.
