This place would have to be one of the most naturally scenic and beautiful place in Australia. It feels like you are in the middle of 2 oceans
Short but rather steep climb up steps to the lookout. Totally worthwhile as the views are 360 around exposing “the neck” as you climb. Do be aware the winds can be very strong and gusty as you climb.
At the neck the views and the birding is excellent. In the evening, come back after sunset to witness the arrival of penguins.
The penguins only appeared after it had been dark for a while so be patient and listen for the squeaking. If you can, bring a red light torch and binoculars but please point the torch slightly to the side of the penguins not into their eyes. The shearwaters are very quiet flyers…
Its great to be able to get so close without disturbing the wildlife. The observation decks are great. The parents coming back in to feed the chicks in the evening is amazing.
