Perhaps Phoenix and Boulder, CO have this intensity of geological scenery so close. Not many other US cities. The Red Rock circuit is a great drive all on its own, but the actual park area and museum is very worthwhile.

We rented a car and drove up to Red Rock Canyon, only a 20-30 minute drive from the strip. There is a 13 mild drive around the park which is beautiful, lots of stops to take pictures.

Nice drive through, but also hike or bike. Great welcome center. View a film on the history of the park.

Wow! What an incredible place. We did a vip coach tour to the grand canyon and had a brilliant time. Listening to stories, eating great food and taking in some of the most incredible sights in the world. Photos will never do it justice.

I've enjoyed this area years ago and it was great to come back (which I now realize you should do again and again to experience it all). One word of warning, it can get crowded on a Sunday morning and the entrance has a "slow...More

Yes!! Go and enjoy! You can stop at as many of the pull offs as you want. It is such a short drive from the city.

Are you talking about a book on the evening sky, or a person. There are two turnouts on the road outside the park. One before the entrance and then an overlook after the entrance. Either would work for star gazing... More
