If you prefer an easy and beautiful walk, then this levada is the one for you. Nice scenery and not challenging at all. At a normal pace, it will take you about 3 hrs and 30mins. Careful: it can get quite muddy if it rained...More

Easy to find a car park. Good walk that was well sign posted and easy to follow. Not suitable for young children. Wouldnt take a child under 13yrs.

I have visited 4 Levadas (Caldeiaro Verde, 25 Fontes and Cascada do Risco) and this one was the best for me. It takes 2-3 hours and we haven't meet many tourist during this trip which we really enjoy. I highly recommend it.

Beautiful peaceful walk with great views. The terrain is easy but could become wet underfoot in bad weather. We joined a guided walk but could easily have followed the path on our own. The guide provided information on flora and fauna but this wasn’t essential....More

this is a beautiful levada walk, with lovely views, a short tunnel and small waterfall over the path. There are some steep drops but there are barriers where needed. A great introduction to levada walking. We saw some beautiful firecrest birds very close to the...More

Organised this through the reception at our hotel in Funchal. Porto Santa Maria. Excellent guide, Jessie. Walk started at the levada do Rei cafe and went up into the beautiful native Laurissilva forest as far as the source of the levada at Ribeiro Bonito where...More

Beautiful stroll in Madiera's rain forest, prettier than a picture, easy walk but has some exposure to steep drops and can be wet underfoot and overhead as you walk under a small waterfall.

When we visited Madeira in July 2018, we decided to the Levada do Rei trail as our first levada walk. Even though we started our walk at ~13:00 and finished around 3 hours later, we only occasionally encountered other hikers - what a difference with...More

This was our first Levada walk, so we chose what looked like an easy one, and it was no problem at all. Although the official guide says a torch is essential, it was not needed on a bright sunny day. A little muddy under foot...More
