Beautiful and easy to reach with a soft walk from the place where you leave the car. I visited this waterfall during a bright August morning and I could admire an amazing landscape made of beautiful colours. Also the view of the scenery around the...More

Hjálparfoss is a hidden gem off the golden circle. Follow the other posts on how to get there and it's about a mile of gravel road to lead to the waterfall. Easily doable with a 2-wheel drive mousemobile! There were only 2 other families here...More

We stopped at Hjalparfoss a little later in our day (around 5PM) and there weren’t many people there which was nice. It’s an easy path from the parking lot down to the waterfall and like many attractions in Iceland there are multiple elevations to take...More

I went to hjalparfoss, to see the nice waterfalls. In winter it's not easy to get there. You really need a 4wheel driving car . It's a very nice place to hike a bit and you have two amazing waterfalls overthere! You really have to...More

This is well worth the 45 minute drive from Gullfoss. We were the only ones there!! Very easy hike from parking lot. The 1/2 mile dirt road off the main road is a bit rough. We went in November, so the road was snow covered...More

This is a cool double sided waterfall. It's definitely off the beaten path. I believe it took about an hour to get to from Gullfoss. We initially wanted to see some other falls in the area, but time was not on our side. I would...More

This is another one of many less-frequented waterfalls in Iceland. It has ample parking and can be viewed from the parking area. A good trail leads down to the water for closer viewing.

This waterfall is located off the Golden Circle so the number of visitors is relatively small. It is located a short distance from the main road and can be accessed by a gravel road, that is relatively smooth compared to some of the other dirt...More

Two mighty falls joining as one body of water! This is where my son and his bride were married in September! Symbolic, Romantic ... everything was perfect! A hidden beautiful foss (waterfall) with an alone time and peaceful quality!

Beautiful waterfall amidst desert like land. A complete surprise, cannot be seen until you are at the edge of the fall. Pretty good access by gravel road.

Its about a mile after you come off the main road (though the main road isn't that great either). Totally fine if you are careful though - and well worth the drive!

Yes, I did it with a small 2WD car in June. Just drive slowly as always on unpaved roads.
