The National park is in a safe area of the Eastern DRC but suffers from the conflicts in the Northern areas. The day I went to KBNP to see gorilla trekking, they dropped the information, that today I would be their only guest. At first,...More

Seeing the eastern lowland gorillas from just a few feet away was an incredible moment that I will never forget. Also hiked mount kahuzi which was a short but challenging up hill hike.

I used Ali Vazir and his company to begin the Congo trip. Because of problems obtaining a visa for inland travel to the Congo, we began by securing a KahuziBiega Gorilla Trek (very beautiful) and applied for a visa in Bukavu. Where Ali shone is...More

Nearby Bukavu, you can visit this park under the supervision of local rangers. The place where Dian Fossey started her mission to protect the gorillas. Possibility to sleep in the park.

Hello everyone I have a few questions that I hope someone can answer: Some very good information here. I will be heading to Bukavu in Late July to see the Eastern Lowland Gorillas. I will be doing two treks. I have been looking around for information regarding a place to stay and a transportation contact to get to The National park for the treks. 1. Does anybody have any names of contacts (and their contact details) that can drive me to KB National park at a reasonable price? Right now, the best price I have is $150 USD return. This was a quote from someone in the tourist office at KB NP. 2. Anybody stay in a decent guesthouse or hotel for under $50? Preferably near where the Ihusi Ferry (from Goma) docks. 3. Where exactly does the Ihusi ferry dock in Bukavu? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks, Tom
