The museum gives a pretty good picture of life in Dyrrachium as Durres was known for Romans some 2000 ago. It has information in English and there is a lot of interesting info to read. I took photos of some texts and read later to...More
We visited the museum at approximately 1:30pm, it was supposed to be open until 4pm, but we found it closed and the doors were locked. Extremely disappointing. Based on the reviews, they open and close when they feel like it.
In the museum you can admire objects, amphoras, funeral monuments both from Greek and Roman periods. This is the biggest archaeological museum in Albenia and all you'll see comes from Duress. Worth to see!

I believe that the museum is open daily except Mondays but I could be mistaken. The hours are unusual and something like 9am to 11am and 4pm to 7pm. They are closed in the middle of the day. My guide book had the hours completely wrong and luckily we were staying at the hotel across the street (Hotel Ani) so we could look at the sign on the front door of the museum and make sure we didn't miss it. You don't need more than 90 minutes to see the museum thoroughly.
