I don't remember exactly how I found out about Coffee Bean Routes, but I am definitely pleased I did. Like most people I had come to South Africa as a part of a safari trip. But I wanted to experience 'real life' too. I am...More

We had a terrific cuisine safari with Adeola. Great food and cultural experience in bo-kaap and 2 townships. I am sure other tours from coffee beans are equally good and wish we had time to do more of them.

I have had the fortune to spend an engaging morning in Langa and Khayelitsha with my knowledgable guide Sabs. If you want to look into the city's potential and (human) resources, do join this tour. Thus tour is not just about the past and present...More

Great way to spend half a day learning about traditional South African cuisine and at the same time visiting 3 diverse areas of Joburg. Fascinating visit to organic vegetable growing program on a small holding near Ellis Park. Plenty to eat and entertaining guide!

My wife and I chose their Jazz Tour. It was incredible. We were welcomed into the home of two legendary jazz musicians and it was like we were old friends. One lived in a township, which, of course, was a bit of culture shock. But...More

I booked this tour through iVenture card premium package though I'm sure you can book direct with them. I did the chorus tour and it was absolutely delightful. I was given to attend exquisite performances by highly talented people, who couldn't hide their deep passion...More

This is advertised as a “Jazz Safari”, but there were precious few jazz sightings on it. Instead, it is essentially a field trip to the homes of two different local musicians who perform solo in their living rooms while you watch. One of them serves...More

Dear Dennis, thank you for your review. I'm disappointed that you didn't get out of the experience what you hoped for. Certainly the basis is the two intimate home concerts, and conversations with the musicians. On your night, you had two South African jazz luminaries,...More

I'm so glad I was able to do this township tour, I think it really helped add perspective and balance to the rest of the sites I was visiting in the city. The guide and driver were extremely friendly and knowledgeable, I always felt safe,...More

We took the "Jazz safari" in a group 7 strong; it was not as advertised. We were taken to the homes of 2 musicians, one a legitimate jazz player, the other a multi-instrumentalist music teacher and performer. There had clearly been inadequate communication ahead of...More

Dear Guy, thank you for sharing your experience. Certainly the evening did not begin as it should have - the dinner host had mixed up his calendar entries and was not ready. That is very embarrassing for us, and indeed would have lead you to...More

The Coffee Bean Tours made our trip to Capetown superb! We went on the Choral Music Tour and the Art Safari. We loved being able to go to people's houses and hear their music. Our guide, Sabs, was wonderful! The one caveat was that we...More
