We went in June 2019 for Gorilla tracking & Nyiragongo trek, booking directly via the park's website. Both trips were a fantastic experience, very well organized (plenty of guides and rangers to feel safe). Also the accommodation in Kibumba tented camp was absolutely top-class (5-star...More

1) You can book your package by selecting the "Packages" tab at the top of the Visit Virunga page and clicking on Mikeno Mist. Booking directly through the Park ensures everything you spend is put back into the Park for conservation and sustainable development purposes
2) Taxis cost $100 each way and can be organised easily through hotels and taxi companies in Kigali. There are also bus services which will take longer but will be cheaper. Trips into the Park operate on a set schedule of departure times so you'd need to bear these in mind when booking your transport
3) Packages include all transport within the Park, starting at the Grande Barriere border post and returning you to the same place
All the best,

I am almost sure the delay is due to the incident. Mine was issued after about 10 days but that was before the security incident. I think After June 4th they will have more information. In any case, they are very good at communication so just keep corresponding with them, but I don't think you'll get any news until after June 4th.
