I realize that this is a "must do" for visitors to Lijiang, but I fail to see much relevance to Lijiang or its history or culture. There are costumes, horses, a cast of hundreds, and even a loose plot dealing with clouds and...More
With Jade Snow mountain serving as the backdrop, the scene is spectacular. When I was planning my Lijiang trip, this show was one of the recommend activity. I have set a high expectation (maybe too high). Eventually, it turned out not really impressed.
All these localised cultural shows I have seen around China have been in the evenings. This one is in the middle of the day, which affected how much I enjoyed the show a lot. As usual, you get the wonderful scenic backdrop and an epic...More
I had watched the impression show in Wuyi mountains and had expected the Lijiang impression show to be as good. I was however quite disappointed as this Lijiang version is not as good. The choreography was messy and there wasn’t a story line. There was...More
We watched the performance for free as part of our visit, but were very underwhelmed by the performance. Compared to the director's other work in Guilin, this paled in comparison. The show attempted to represent the different ethnic groups of Yunnan, but it did a...More

The show is performed...More
Lack of shading in this exposed theater makes you wonder if it worth the effort to attend this Zhang YiMou production. I came home drench from high sun uv punishment. A first and last attendance of this epic performance that didn't have the audience on...More
We did not want to do the show but we were only able to book the tour with the show included. No wonder they force you to see the show, it is so bad! The message I got was, the women are so happy to...More
