Clean, not many tourists so it is a better Chinese experience and not as packed as Beijing summer palace.

I came on a rainy day but that didn't deter crowds. I needed to wear my headphones for the first 90 minutes until I got north of the lake area to drown out the noise of the crowds. The main palace area is elbow to...More

This is a good park with peaceful lakes. However, I became bored with it. The place was unremarkable and certainly not worth a special trip up from Beijing.

It is a nice garden, one of those visitors see in China with ravishment. On the other hand, the summer palace is nice but far from one can admire in Beijing. So do not expect something too grandiose, it is just an agreable place to...More

The Palace is ok. Poorly restored with modern add-ons and fire extinguisher in the middle of the place. The park and area is really pretty. However the price is way too steep. Entrance is 140 yuan per adult. That doesn’t include the bus ride for...More

This summer palace hunting resort of the Qing emperor is probably the highlight of the city of Chende. We visited this massive area in mid spring and some of the lakes were still frozen. It must be quite a retreat for the imperial family to...More

It was a short visit lasting more than 4 hours but a quick walk through and then a nice coach ride through the forest were really great value for money, especially for those of us over 60 years of age. May is a good season...More
