OK so I was cynical, I really didn't want to go and it did seem very crowded but when the performance began I was dumbstruck by the beauty, scale and the location of the performance. This was a magical event set against iconic hills featuring...More
This amazing show makes use of the karst mountains as a backdrop and uses the lake for dramatic action. With 600 performers taking part in 6 tableaux, it benefits from superb coordination. Lighting and sound are both excellent and the choreography is truly amazing. It’s...More
The show is all performed on water, which is quite impressive for the size of production. The scenes will leave one in wonderment along with the beauty of the mountains. My friend gave me the plot of the story. However the show didn't follow that...More
Well worth seeing this spectacular show designed by the man who did the opening and closing Olympic ceremonies. What he has done here with a cast of 600 is stunning. We sprang for the Top tier VIP seats which were like a sky box.
Not having any preconceived idea about this show is the best way to arrive! It will entertain you, and you will be amazed at the creativity of this production. Afterward you can read the discerning comments about the story etc. Maybe the story isn’t as...More
This is a 'must see' show, it's a performance involving 200+ performers, mostly on traditional style rafts, I found it simply spectacular, as did my wife & friends. The lighting on the nearby mountains was amazing.
A must see if your in China.
The scale of the show is huge. It is a light show over water and the mountains in the background light up as well. People perform on the water at times over a hundred.
Very well choreographed.
If you had gone to this performance as we did, expecting a re-enactment of some of the very memorable folk songs from the 1960s Chinese musical Liu San Jie 刘三姐, you'd be sorely disappointed. They shouldn't have adopted the Liu San Jie name - it...More
I have previously limited my reviews to hotels and restaurants, so this is a first.
The performances, setting, music and choreography were all outstanding and made for a memorable evening.
We were perhaps fortunate that the only available seats were in the VIP section, so...More
The river is the stage. I would recommend the seats in the rear. We had a light rain earlier that evening but should be no problem. It is close to the center of town but I would get all inclusive tickets. It is usually... More
The river is the stage. I would recommend the seats in the rear. We had a light rain earlier that evening but should be no problem. It is close to the center of town but I would get all inclusive tickets. It is usually full.
