We came to see the Chinese Wall, so we climbed the 600 steps to reach the top end of it. Stairs are very steep but the view over the Gobi desert is worth the effort.

The Great Wall never ceases to amaze, especially the overhanging wall. You can see for miles out into the Gobi desert which is worth the walk up some very very steep steps.

Weather in early October was perfect. Crowded, but not too bad. Stairs...many and steep. But so worth it. Just had a total knee replacement 9 months prior, and hit the wall with no problems...thats because i was aggressive in my therapy. My 85yr old mom...More

As mentioned in many reviews, the restoration went too far. Nevertheless, worth the visit. Climb to the top, if you are in shape!

This great wall was part of oldest built during Qin, Ming & Han Dynasty. Its called overhanging great wall because when view from top of mountain, it just look like hanging rope among the cliffs.

It’s such a shame that the authorities taper down any genuine parts of the wall and replace it with a concrete Disney like replacement. Show us the original and sensitive reconstructions. The restorations detract from the real history which seems to have been overlooked

The Xuanbi Great Wall, nearby Jiayuguan, is a significant disappointment, especially if you have been at the Great Wall locations by Beijing. The overly restored great wall appears almost fake, as if it was purpose built on the location as an attraction (especially with the...More
