We rented the orange bikes along the way and went down there. Perfectly safe and lots of people. Just stop along the way at one of the local bars, for a coconut or a coke. Whole lake is 15 km round.

We enjoyed walking around part of the lake. You can spot various birds from the pedestrian/ cycling path. There appeared to be a couple of bars/restaurants but they were closed during the day we were there.

Lined with apartment buildings and sports clubs, this unique part of Rio faces the Christ the Redeemer statue on Corcovado Mountain and backs into world famous Ipanema beach.

Rented one of those bikes and rode around the lake for a while. The weather was a bit overcast and threatening to rain, so cut the journey a bit. Would have been great on a sunny day. Would recommend.
