The Memorial was on our list of things not to be missed. There are a lot of informational stand and plaques to help guide you through the History of not only the Memorial but for all Marines.

You can easily make this trip before or after visiting Arlington cemetery. The statue is awesome. See it from all sides. My favorite was to look up from the soldier staking the flag. It makes for a great picture.

Stopped by while heading to the airport and while there was a construction at the front of the memorial, you still have a beautiful view of the memorial with the capital and the Washington monument.

One of the best views of the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument and the Capitol dome. Nice grassy area to chill out, also good place to bring your dog.

This is a very great memorial. There are some signs on it and around it if you look for them that are interesting to read. Nowhere does it say who these men were. There were two flag raisings, the fist with a smaller flag, the...More

This is a great memorial for the marines. Iwo Jima is an important victory for the marines during WWII. But I had forgotten the many other battles they had done for us in America. I was also struck that as I walked away from the...More

This memorial is a bit out of the way & requires a bit more effort to visit. But it is one of the most amazing sights in Washington & a must see

A great tribute to the Marines. We waited to see this until night time and so glad we did. In a very nice park area and was close to our Hilton hotel.

Agree with all of the others here. Although I think it's a bit more than a half mile it's a walk you should take. I'm glad I did and I walked back to the metro stop afterwards. Gives you time to think and reflect... More

I understand this memorial is accessible from the last stop of the Tram at Arlington Cemetery. About the tram; I originally believe it was and on and off type trolly where you could get off at a stop and wander and then get on a subsequent bus and continue; now reading more it says 'tour' which is a different story to me. Tour means you get off when they stop and get back on when they say. Which is this experience? If it is the LAST stop, at what point do you see the Changing of the Guard at the Unknown? Also, is the walk from Arlington to the Marine Corps Memorial difficult? And, do you have to pay again and go through security again to return to Arlington? I am debating about driving to the memorial on some other day as I have heard it is easy get to and that it is a nice place to linger and contemplate and there is parking. I know this is more than one question, but I've been looking for answers elsewhere for all these so I can decide my agenda, but haven't had a lot of clarification and luck. Thank Any and Every one who replies.
