Unfortunately for us the building was being renovated when we visited. Situated in the fork in the river you have great views of the Winter Palace, Hermitage and Peter and Paul Fortress.
Nice to have a quick walk about.
The old stock exchange was a little underwhelming considering we’d just seen the spectacular Winter Palace and Hermitage Museum. If you have the time, they’re worth walking past but I certainly wouldn’t rush back.
This Greek influenced design has a full portico held up by brilliantly white columns. It is just across the street from the Rostral columns and park setting. After 200 years, it has had several uses and now is transitioning back to a commodities exchange.
