A small but very charming neighborhood. Worth seeing with a local so you learn about some history and about certain buildings, and facades.

Enjoyed wandering around and looking at the gardens and buildings and streets. Stumbled on a small museum/art store which we really enjoyed.

This is a pleasant neighborhood to walk around. The buildings are well preserved and you can just about try to imagine what it was like in samurai times.

This district has wonderful examples of traditional Japanese domestic and commercial architecture including the Nomura Samurai House and the Shinise Kinenkan Museum (with its friendly staff).

Just narrow streets, nothing really to see except walls and some tourist-trap stores. Don’t spend too much time here but make sure you visit the samurai house museum.

Nothing too fascinating unless its your first visit to Japan and havent visited any old town. It does make a rather peaceful walk in the evening when there are lesser tourists though.

It is really nice to walk in an old Japanese neighborhood with all the beautiful old houses and narrow streets. Due to the many tourists there also tend to be a lot of nice shops.

A nice well preserved district that is fun to explore. Do not miss the samurai house . You have to pay a small entrance fee, but well worth it. Some interesting little souvenir shops, bit mostly residential. A nice way to spend some quiet time...More

We went with a KGGN guide, which enhanced the experience. It was fascinating to see the old walls and houses. A real step back in time.
