The monastery is still under renovation. The scenary along the road to the monastery is very beautiful but that's it. You have to ride the 'shuttle' for a fee to reach the gate to the monastery only to find yourself the entrance area only. When...More

Not opened and restored but like 20% of it . Beautifull area to walk around with waterfalls and many types of pine trees. Too exhausting to go all the way to the top to find not completely restored yet

It takes a bit of effort to arrive, but it does offer scenery. If you climb all the way to the top, you can see lots of scaffolding for the ongoing construction. For many, a better option is to take a view just beyond the...More

Pay an entrance fee to get to a locked door. Many steps up they simply forget to tell you. No photos possible as you cannot get anywhere close enough.

The weather was fantastic, small showery rain, there are nice places to have a snack or coffee. Sumela Monestry was open for public after along time of maintenance, but still hard to climb up to reach there.

We visit the place at September 2019. The road to the monastery was fabulous. The building was at over hall and no entrance was allowed. It seems that will take at least 3 month

Great place but I didn't have enough time to visit. Incredible place in a high mountainous area. The please is being renovated & somehow scary when trying to get there.
