A lovely site with some beautifully preserved ruins. Quite a large area. The auditorium is in great condition and the tunnels are a must.

Although the Acropolis and Red Basilica were also interesting to visit, I found this by far the most fascinating ruin in Bergama. The small signs around the ruin give an excellent description of how the hospital worked, treating both physical and mental ailments. I would...More

It was a fun walk through. Not a Wow factor as some of the sites we've enjoyed. But I must add that all of Turkey is a pleasant surprise. A must see country.

A fascinating insight into the treatment of mental health c 2000 years ago. Probably best visited with a knowledgeable guide, we were fortunate to have Mehmet working with Riviera Travel who had worked there as a student.

Read about this in your guide book to fully appreciate how amazing it was in the past. In April there were masses of wild poppies and flowers and it was very beautiful. A pool full of water turtles and an underground tunnel and small amphitheatre....More

Very interesting and unusual visit. Going to Bergama and not visiting the "first hospital", would be such a loss.

Included as part of our Gate 1 tour. It was very windy and therefore not as enjoyable as it could have been. The "road" into the complex is fitting for a large city. The complex is huge and in good repair. It really helps to...More

It is a marvel of Anatolia. Unfortunately neither authorities nor visitors pay enough attention. Must to see.
