Baandam museum or black house is rather unique if you appreciate the style of this artist. This is a popular sight for tourists. You donate THB80 to see all the exhibition left by this artist that past away a few years ago. The artist is...More

We were taken to the White Temple Complex on our way into the city (during a longer tour of the Region) which was a bit bizarre (see separate review). But this art complex (the Black House) is much less well publicised and a bit more...More

We found this place to be repelling; dark, loads and loads of animal skins, furs, horns, bones... There are penises and vaginas all over the place. I am not a hypocrite and enjoy art showing the beauty of the human's body, but that... was not...More

I find that this ok to visit but not a must. If you have very limited time in chiang rai, I think this can be skipped. Or just go for a short fast view. The entrance fee is relatively more expensive than temple. Don’t feel...More

A nice and different museum, I really like the art work and the place is well kept, the only problem is the amount of loud tourists there, I went early but the people there (tours) were super loud, it ruins a bit the experience.

The place is mostly in black and the structures inside the compound are well made from woods. Nice artistic touch and just nice to see that a place like this is existing here in Asia.

This is a seemingly unique museum in Thailand. Many items were constructed with the horns of steer some type of animal. The chair bottoms are made from animal hides and there are bear, wolf, crocodile and other animal skins used as decoration. The property is...More

The entrance fee for the black house is $80 bahts which i think is a bit high as the blue temple do not have entrance fee and the white temple also just cost $50 bahts. Will not visit again as not much to see.

If you find Baan Dam creepy or weird, then clearly you have not been to Philadelphia's Mutter Museum or Bangkok's Death Museum at Sirriraj Hospital, or even a Ripley's. It is a mildly interesting (themeless) collection of mediocre art, really nice animal skins, horns and...More
