Very popular location for visitors to Galle - especially at sunset when everyone is vying for the best positions to photograph the sun sinking in the west. If you are lucky you will also see daring locals diving from the rocks
I only realised it is such a convenient location that I should have book my accommodation inside the town. All buildings are nice especially those small churches. It is well organised with restaurants, shops, cafes, convenient stores ...etc. You can pick a cafe/restaurant to chill...More
Really lovely to walk around the old town. We had the feeling of being in a different era. It was pretty quiet when we were there, so we could really enjoy the place. There are also some nice cafes, all in all, could easily spend...More
We had a guided tour of the area and were taken to some great vantage points for views of the coast as well gain a great understanding of the history of the fort. It amazing much of it still stands and survived the 2004 Tsunami...More
Interesting piece of the colonial history. Nice to walk over the walls. Fun fact: in a lot of the holes in the walls where the cannons used to be there are now young lovebirds trying to get some private time from the parents eye.
A lovely area to visit to see beautiful trees, colonial Dutch and English buildings and ramparts. Many of the buildings are now souvenir, jewellery, clothes shops along with restaurants and coffee shops.

Its possible to walk around the fort with a baby stroller as there are roads along the boundary wall. However for scenic points, one has to climb on to boundary wall using stars. Boundary walls are very wide for most part of the fort. Also stairs are neither steep nor large in number.
But some places of fort are narrow and it is not advisable to visit these places with baby/stroller.
