You can take the gondola up or drive up. To get to the gondola, you can take a bus from the center of the city, then walk the remaining half mile or so, but the best bet is to take a taxi. It shouldn't be more than 5 or 6 dollars for the taxi from the center to the gondola. The driver can also pick you up upon your return.
