Done in bronze and granite, the sculpture by Jose Belloni is a tribute to ox-cart drivers of the 19th c. The work dates from 1934. Stay on the path unless you want a lecture from a security guard, necessary as the work has been vandalized...More

This was just a 5 minute stop for photos of this beautiful artwork depicting an oxen team and cart with a soldier on horseback. Set a bit higher above a small pool, statue reflections in the water made for nice pictures. Created in the 1930s...More

We visited this sculpture during our three hour city tour. A narrated tour certainly provides information that one would not have if stumbling upon this on their own.

This monument was built by Jose Belloni in 1934 in honor of ox cart drivers and is a national historic monument. It is in the middle of a peaceful park and there are some vendors here selling souvenirs. It is good for a quick photo...More

The bronze sculpture captures the realism of an ox team cart and mounted lancer. It is dedicated to the ox cart drivers of the 19th century, many who travelled with Artigas during the liberation of Uruguay.

La Caretta is a remarkably beautiful and interesting sculpture from bronze. It is situated close to the Tres Cruces area. It shows a carriage being pulled by oxen.

Worth seeing if you are in the area. It's a bronze sculpture by local artist Joe Belloni from 1919 depicting oxcart drivers. We only saw it because it was part of our "City Highlights" bus tour arranged through our cruise ship.

This was another incredibly detailed sculpture similar to similar to Monument a la Diligencia. If you are in the area worth looking at, but as others have said, no need to go out of your way to see it.

Well this was nothing more than a photo stop that frankly I could have done without. I noted that with swarms of inattentive tourists, three locals (men) were circulating through the crowds of tourists looking intently to prey on tourists. After making such an observation,...More

La Carreta is a very nice statue, but it's nothing to go out of your way to visit. It's in the Parque Battle, and I would recommend visiting the park, so just swing by for a photo op if you happen to find yourself in...More
