This often seems to be the first stop on many city tours of Arequipa. There is a great view of the glacial valley running down into the town, demonstrating the fecundity of the area. A good view point to gain your beatings of this sprawling city.
This is my view from my/our flat. Every morning, w/o fail so far, i open the blinds at 6 am, and declare--it is going to be another sunny day. We do take the CU students at San Pablo for this view every year.
We visited this place in a clear blue-sky, mild-temperature day. The view of the city and its 3 volcanoes was breath-taking. Highly recommended. A taxi from downtown Arequipa to tehe Mirador was not even $4,00
Compared with Yanahuara, this is a better place to stop. That is because not only do you get a view of Arequippa but here there is the volcano as a backdrop and then terraces along the river below you. The terraces are still cultivated by the locals. Ignore the zip line.
A beautiful view over Arequipa, The three volcanoes of Picha Pich, Chachani and the very large and imposing Misti. There is also the Chili River running nearby. We visited during our 13 day tour of Peru. The weather was very clear which gave us a perfect view of Arequipa.
