Very Javanese Islamic architect and more on religious matter. Called Kota Gede as it was big city during the Kraton Kings time previously. Alleys to the mosque was very unique. Javanese feeling with some Balinese architecture which was balance and created beautiful feelings when you...More

We regularly travel to Jogja to shop, although now that Hero has closed and Carrefour is no longer Carrefour, nor sells European food we will be going to Lotte in Solo more often. I had read a lot about Kota Gede and thought it would...More

I was surprised to see how empty the streets were. I've seen some people in silver selling shops, I walked into a couple of them, the craftsmanship is indeed outstanding, but I thought most of the things were very pricey. Walking through the little streets...More

Kota Gede is a must for anyone interested in buying filigree silver jewellery. The silver used is always 925 Sterling Silver and the method is highly intricate taking several days and even weeks sometimes to make a single necklace or bracelet. My favourite store is...More

Many shops selling silver here. We stopped at HS Silver to view the artisans at work and buy a few items in silver. Good service

We came there after zoo and Kotagede neigborhoods were the right place to visit. We enjoyed the old architecture from the 18th and 19th centuries.
