While the international politics, environmental consequences and Egyptian nationalist issues surrounding the dam (e,g, Nasser, the Suez Crisis, the Soviet connection, the Kushite issues) are very interesting and important for understanding Egypt’s place in the world, these things can be learned better and more easily...More

I guess that having a look here is standard practice when in the area. An important piece in the development of Egypt but not that interesting for a tourist.

This dam was constructed by Russians and gifted to the Egypt government. The dam is extremely important is the sense it controlled flooding of the Nile, provided adequate water for irrigation. A nice one time watch

Ok for a look if passing by, but don't make a special trip just to see it. The security "scanning" was a bit of a joke, walk in one door and out another next to it, but no gates or fences??

The Aswan high dam was built with the help of the Russians after the USA put too many conditions on their aid. It’s interesting, but if you are pressed for time I’d skip this unless you are a dam fan.

if we do not now the history than it is just a water body. Almost 30 minutes away from the city. If you have option can include any other place as not so important
