Give yourself plenty of time to take in this amazing collection of priceless artefacts dating back as far as 2500BC. So many statues, carvings, mummies, sarcophagi, jewellery and much more. Ancient boats and utensils also among so many displays. Take either a guided tour or...More

Fabulous but still being upgraded (as it was when I visited 50 years ago !) Many items being moved out to Giza. Everything covered in dust - not a lot of maintenance of existing exhibits in evidence.

We went to the museum as part of our full day tour of Cairo and Pyramids, so unfortunately had limited time inside the museum, but luckily we saw the most important things. Mummies are intriguing and Tutankhamen's treasures are truly impressive. But if you're not...More

First to say is do not try to go without a guide. Most of the things exposed has no identification or a note so you'll miss a lot. But do not worry, there are many guides availables as soon as you pass the first entrance....More

The collection of antiques is mind blowing! Not just the King Tut portion but the entire museum. Warn you it is hot, no air conditioning, there are building a new museum.

I have read many of the reviews of the museum and find it interesting that many choose to focus on the museums rather obvious faults. I choose to describe our experience as like a visit to a Grand Old Aunt. A bit down on her...More

The museum is so big make sure you take enough time to go through. Pay the extra and visit the Mummy's Tomb - it won't disappoint. You cannot believe the detail and the exacting carving of the pieces. Make sure you see the Pharoah's feather....

I would recommend you keep your bags at hotel luggage room for your own safety and wouldn't recommend leaving your luggage with the museum security they cant be trusted.

We went with our travel company in July so have no idea. You can probably get the information quite easily if you “ goggle” the Museum. Extremely impressive. Cheers
