“Monumental Roman style Congress building”
Finally completed in 1926 after 80 years of construction work, the Capitolio Nacional is meant to symbolize the solidity and robustness of Colombia's national independence. Remarkable is the ruling class at the time was very much inspired by European culture and for instance did…
We we enjoyed, just walking around seeing the amazing buildings. You can spent a a whole day taking in the Colombian history
The columns made me think of Washington DC and Greece. It was built in 1926. Bummer you can’t go inside to see the murals painted there. It’s located in the plaza de Bolivar.
This huge neoclassic bldg occupies an entire side of the vast Bolivar sq in downtown Bogota. It's the seat of Colombia's Congress, but you can admire it only from outside, from the plaza - therefore, only 3 stars as there are tons of such bldgs all over Europe.
This is an impressive building, one massive situated in plaza bolivar. The public cannot enter and visit it. Too bad !
