About
This enormous palace was the Imperial residence of Ottoman sultans for almost 400 years. Although much of the palace is not accessible, the daily tours of the Harem are of great interest to tourists.

A return visit to Topkapi palace. It is still a tour de force if you like tiles and the buildings and gardens are stunning. It does get crowded, and can be tiring after a long day.

You cannot visit Sultanahmet area and not visit Topkapi Palace, a huge sprawling area which is central to the history of this location. Well laid out with numerous displays and information boards. Although at extra cost, a visit to the harem within the palace grounds...More

Topkapi Palace was the place where the rulers lived and were educated at one time. The grounds are beautiful with some lovely views over the Bosphorus.

Dissapointing that so many sections of the palace were closed; Including the treasury which should have been the most spectacular element. None of the websites alerted us to this extensive renovation program

The mosaics were fabulous and there were many rooms decorated with marvellous paintings. The outside was as beautiful as the inside. You should take a guided tour and there is a good restaurant.

Early morning entry highly recommended to avoid crowds, including local school groups. Still, must be seen.

We spent our time lingering through the ground, the palace’s opulent rooms, and admiring the stunning views of the Bosphorus River. Also, we opted to purchase our tickets from the machine placed a few meters from the main entrance to save us time from queuing.
