It had snowed. It was cold. I took quite a climb to get there. And once you reached the top you wonder “why did I come here?” The Cie is Dar reaching but there is nothing to see. The soviet art is not attractive
By hiking up 300-400 steps you get a full panoramic view of UB; probably the best in the city. The memorial is dedicated primarily to the collaborative efforts of Mongolia & Russia during the WWII period. Worth the effort for the view.
I was visiting Mongolia as my wife is from there and we visited this memorial and it was just awesome. I have to warn you though! There are many steps to climb and it might take a while to get up to the memorial, but...More
It's a simple monument to the Soviet and Mongolian soldiers of WWII. The monument is just another monument, but the views over UB are spectacular. It's a bit of a walk up if you're not used to climbing stairs.
We arrived after a visit from Putin so his wreath was still freshly laid. You will get a great view if the city in all its smoggy glory plus an interesting historical pictoral of russian mongolian warfare.
