Massive markets, crowded, bustling, colourful, cramped.....but so much fun. Myriad stalls of every conceivable produce, grains, fruit, spices, dried seafoods. Many different sections to address diverse needs. Don't miss the section for cooking utensils. While essentially for bulk purchase, they will sell individual items. Picked...More

I walked around for about half a day and found many interesting shops and places to eat. Met an Australian man that told me that between 1980 and '82 most of the Chinese were incouraged to leave VN.

It was under reconstruction so the tour did not include the area. They said it was a good place to go haggle shopping.

Drive thru Chinatown which is one of the oldest sections of Saigon. The traffic is brutal. You see alot of signs in both Chinese and Vietnamese.

Being born and raised in San Francisco's Chinatown, I found Cho Lon-District 5 to be a welcoming place away from home. I can compare Cho Lon to visiting certain areas of Hong Kong and Taiwan. I sampled two Dim Sum Restaurants in Cho Lon and...More

I’m an expat loving in China so was interested to see what the Chinatown scene was like here. I was hoping to find some things that I couldn’t find at home and wasn’t disappointed. Be forewarned that there are some places that do not sell...More

Large neighbourhood. Walkable, but probably not for young kids as pavements not so good or usually blocked because people have parked their mopeds on the pavement so have to walk in the road. A very busy and old district. Old buildings. Urban grit. Many great...More

Another busy part od Saigon with tons of traffic and many people. I go there to buy wholesale items for my class. If I could find somewhere that was as cheap and closer I would bother with going.

It is a crowded city with lots of going on. Nothing would "wind down" on any day except the New Year day or so.

It is worth every minute to spend your time visiting Cholon. The price tend to be cheaper than Ben Thanh Market area.
