As someone noted, make sure you go to the right van phuc as this is not a unique place name. Accessible by grab (and return). We got more or less what was wanted with some materials. Was a bit quiet with a few shops shut...More

A very disappointing visit to Van Phuc Silk Village. My expectations where to see the production of silk from silk worm to finished product. Unfortunately the only facility for the production of silk was one example of an old working loom and some explanations of...More

Stalls and stalls of silk textile and clothes for sale. There are silk accessories for sale as well. If you are a silk lover, you must visit. I was more interested in watching them spin silk thread and weave silk textile. Very interesting. Loved the...More

Unless you are in the market for yards of silk I would skip this. It is one lane of shops all with basically the same wares. There is a loom working but I doubt the silks are made there! There were 2 displayed boards of...More

I was astounded by how much beautiful cloth could be created by simple wooden looms in a tiny room. So much more wholesome and rewarding than big mechanised machine led operations. The factory owner we visited was really happy with his work.

The Silk Village which is now part of Hanoi is limited to several streets but it is worth a visit. We stopped at one family owned shop which still operates its own looms. Apparently most of the shops in the Silk Village are merely retailers.We...More

I enjoyed the visit to the silk village. The entire area is not big, but I still did not get to see all the stores in 2 hours we had. I see mixed reviews and I can see why. If you are not interested in...More

Well, well well... This place tries (sadely) to survive with the tourist but there not that much left. Far away, surrounded by the constructions, no need of crytal ball to predict its future...

No need to organize in advance. I got chatting with an amputee by the lake and she took me there in the local busses, which is the cheapest way to go. But any taxi will take you there.
