This is the kind of museum that I often skip- small, lots of text. But it came alive with a guide providing context of the pre colonial and colonial periods. Skip the animal exhibit.

Very average & overpriced! Ridiculous reptile park at the back of the building. Felt like a tourist trap.

This is a small museum documenting, mostly through photographs, the period spanning colonialism but also looking at the relationship with missionaries, World War 1 etc. Take time to watch the videos. They are good. Take your reading glasses as there is A LOT to read....More

Fun museum that shows Rwanda before the arrival of Europeans. Also has a little zoo with special animal exhibits.

but the guards were nice to us. It is a surprisingly modest place, you'd expect the first western occupants to build something more impressive. I appreciated that.
