This is a place which also has the black star memorial. It also has a viewing gallery & parade ground. A nice place worth going once but poorly maintained.

Visited here in August 2019. I didn't climb to the top as there was a fee. Took photos in the square like all other tourists. There isn't much else to do here.

For students of history and anti-colonialism, this is an important site. For others, pay attention to what happened here.

The beach in the background makes the Independence square appear regal. Osu Castle is also visible in the distance and though we didn't visit the Castle, it is on our to-do list for our next visit to Ghana

Right there between the Black Star Gate and the Atlantic Ocean, the square is very extensive and breezy, clean and colourful.

Independence and the adjoining Black Star Squares are symbols of new Ghana. Everyone comes here who needs a photo proof they visited Accra.

There was good feeling in this square, and fun to imagine it thronging with people and parades, however on an average day, it is a large square with bleachers to the side. Good to get a feel, but don't allocate too much time.

The Independence Square is normally used for national events since it's an important place for Ghana. We had a church program here on Good Friday 2019. It was an amazing experience. Even though my colleagues and I went late and because of that we couldn't...More

Of course, I can provide no official explanation. I'm not even sure Ghana's government has different names for this combined area. The Black Star arch is a monument across the way from the parade grounds & stands. In any... More
