And they were a feisty group the morning we were there. Very noisy and a little brawling. A few were run out of the pool which was interesting to watch right in front of our vehicle.

We found the number of hippos amazing and so interesting even though they really don't move around much. There were many baby hippos as well. It was fun to watch them.

Oh my. There is probably not much that smells worse than a few hundred hippos in a small amount of water! Three rivers converge, but in the dry season, they are barely covered. But oh, you must see them. All the glorious beats up close...More

Pool is teaming with these fellas. While they are not super active they do constantly spin their rats which is too cute. If you are patient you might get one opening his mouth. A fun stop on an otherwise bumpy safari. This is way cool.

The Hippos are always moving and the little ones are cheeky and are great for photo opportunities. Great place.

It's a bit of effort to get up to the viewing platform, so check with guide as to whether s/he thinks it is appropriate for you.

I can't imagine being in the Serengetti and not coming to this pond. Fascinating! Sometimes they raise their heads, then you take the picture...

Large, noisy, smelly and scarey but not to be missed! I could have watched them wallowing around for hours!

We stopped at the hippo pool with guide Mussa. Very many hippos crowded in the mud pool. Took great shots

A picnic site has restrooms, fresh water to wash hands. The toilets are even not too filthy considering the limitations. But area is smelly due to Hippo pool ( Depends on air direction). Hope you find information useful
