The Bastion is a Renaissance-style fortification. It consists of a tower installed in the city defense wall, underground gun ports, and a connecting tunnel. The Bastion was built in the first half of the 17th century. There is a picturesque view of the Old Town.

Pop in if you are walking past and can get in free with a Vilnius pass but personally I wouldn’t make a special effort to visit. Views of the city from the top of the bastion weren’t as good as being outside the bastion even...More

I discovered the Artillery Bastion when exploring the old town. It was part of the city wall at one time and was constructed at the beginning of the 17th century.

This area was fenced off under renovation but you can walk the perimeter and see the old brick walls below the castle and the tower of Gediminas Hill. This is where Vilnius started in the 13th century and although most of Vilnius has been well restored...More

A great place to take a walk in the warm and sunny weather and you can visit the museum here. From the top of the building there is a wonderful view of the city.

I visited the museum downstairs and the area with the cannons and the magnificent view of the city in late June without a guide. The presentation of the artefacts was more than satisfactory and a lot of info on the history of Vilnius. On display...More

Came across this massive fort looking structure on the way to my hostel. Gorgeous green fields surround this stone area. Looks like a fort from back in the day with a canon up top.
