The square is outside the Old Town, however very close to the Barbican. There is the Gruewlad monument on the square.

Cloth hall divides the two main city squares - this one has old town hall tower and bronze “face on its side” art at one end. It’s interesting looking at surrounding buildings as you walk across but mind out for maniac cyclists! Plenty of cafes...More

The square itself is not impressive, however the Grunwald monument and the imposing bank building sure are.

a very impressive historic monument located in a large square surrounded by well restored old buildings. When visiting the Barbakan fortree just outside the Florianska street, cross the street to the Matejki square for a short stroll.
