Great to visit and learn about the history at the time as well as other Scottish great influencers. There are a lot of steps to climb so not ideal if have a disability, my husband has a sore knee and struggled a bit.

Incredible views from the top, lots of history on the floors to take breaks from climbing stairs. Lovely walk up to the monument.

Amazing views in a great spot with a wonderful bit of history. Not sure what else to say other than there's a lot of steps if you want to get to the top. Totally worth it, though.

Hello. We are open on the 31st December, closed the 1st January and re open on the 2nd January. This is all weather permitting. I hope this helps.

Hello, between the 8th July and 14th September there will be a special bus service leaving the castle approx. every 40 mins from the castle to the monument. Alternatively the walk is approx. 2.2 miles and takes 50 minutes... More

If your knees are bad I would not recommend going inside as the stair case up to the exhibits and top (total 246 steps) is narrow and steep on the way down. You can visit the Keepers Lodge at the base of the monument free... More
